About Colournostics

Change Your Colours.
Change Your Perspective.

Colournostics is a practical self-development process that uses intuitive colour choice to help people explore what they are experiencing, uncover what may be holding them back and see a situation from a new perspective.

Created by Mary Ashby-Green and Thelma Bregman, Colournostics brings together decades of experience in NLP, education, colour psychology and mind-body awareness.

Our Story

Born From Decades of Practice

Colournostics grew from the combined professional experience of two women who had spent many years helping people understand themselves and create meaningful change.

Mary worked extensively with NLP, education and learning, while Thelma’s work centred on colour psychology, psychosomatic awareness and the relationship between the mind, body and emotions.

Over time, they noticed that people did not always make their greatest breakthroughs by talking more about a problem. Often, change began when someone was invited to choose a colour that represented what they were experiencing.

That intuitive choice created a different way into the conversation, helping move attention away from overthinking and towards the person’s own emotional response, insights and possibilities.

Colour bypasses the logical verbal mind and reaches the hidden depths of the subconscious.

Why Colour?

Sometimes Colour Can Express What Words Cannot.

We naturally respond to colour. A colour can feel calming, uncomfortable, energising, heavy or hopeful—often before we have consciously decided why.

Colournostics uses that immediate response as a starting point. There is no good colour, bad colour or correct answer. What matters is what the chosen colour represents to that person at that particular moment.

Through guided questions, the participant begins to explore their own associations, feelings and beliefs. This can reveal aspects of a situation that may be difficult to recognise or explain through conversation alone.

The practitioner does not choose or interpret the colours for the participant. The participant’s own responses remain at the centre of the experience.

A Different Starting Point

Colour creates a way into the conversation without first needing to find all the right words.

The Starting Question

Which colour represents how this feels to you?

  • Identify what is really troubling you
  • Recognise an underlying block or pattern
  • Create space between yourself and the problem
  • Imagine a more positive outcome
  • Develop a more empowered perspective

Our Purpose

Making Insight More Accessible.

Our purpose is to make the language and psychology of colour available to people who want to understand themselves more clearly, change unhelpful patterns and create greater balance in their lives.

Intuitive

The process begins with the participant’s own colour choices, rather than assumptions or interpretations made by someone else.

Structured

A clearly defined five-step framework guides the participant from identifying a concern towards imagining a different outcome.

Practical

The physical toolkit, colour cards, board and supporting resources make the process easy to understand, use and repeat.

Adaptable

Colournostics can be explored personally, used in professional sessions, delivered in workshops or incorporated into online work.

Empowering

Participants are encouraged to discover their own insights and possibilities, rather than simply being told what their experience means.

The participant remains at the centre of the process—their colours, their meanings, their insights and their way forward.
